road trip

*just as a clarification: the 'new baby' in the house isn't of the humanoid persuasion as many of you may have been thinking (no, i didn't get knocked up and then not tell anyone, but thank you all for the well wishes *grins*). it is my newly purchased, love of my life, 2002 toyota echo. it's also the reason for my very long bump in posts which i will explain below.

you see, long story short is.. got in a big accident, car got totaled, no insurance on my part (whoops), no insurance on his part (crap), big trouble with the law, whoa! he does have insurance (woo!), nice big check in the mail, lots of car dealership runs (grr), good old craigslist to the rescue, find car of dreams for less than bluebook ($1000 less, yeah baby), laura learns how to drive a stick again (oh, you mean i'm NOT supposed to do that?), still working out trouble with the law but things are looking okay, ROAD TRIP!

..and that's about where things (hopefully) will stand.

I thought you couldn't get your car licensed without car insurance. That's the law in Nebraska, anyway.

nods, same here but i do have insurance. it's along story, i just didn't end up having coverage on the day of the accident.. partly my fault, partly the insurance company's fault.. but of course when it comes to insurance it's all my fault when the bill comes along ;)
