I don't think I've ever seen a barnacle that close up, it looks almost like its open (though I know nothing about barnacles so I'm probably wrong!)
The colours on the crab are vibrant and varied, some great shades of purple. Highly cool. Did you move the crab to get a better shot, or is it just a crab sitting in some sand?

sadly.. it was no longer a crab when i took this photo, just a dead empty claw sitting in the sand. i took the shot as i found it :)

i had never seen barnacles that close either *shudder* no real need to see them that close again either..
